Sonic the Hedgehog, a fictional character, is the primary protagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series created by Sega. He first appeared in the game Sonic the Hedgehog in 1991, designed as a replacement for Sega's previous mascot, Alex Kidd.

Known for his incredible speed and blue fur, Sonic is an anthropomorphic hedgehog residing on the fictional South Island, and later the world of Mobius.
